Pilates For Over 50's


Pilates for Over 50's classes start 13th July, 2010. For those aged 50 and over, there are many benefits to be gained by practicing Pilates on a regular basis. By focusing on slow, continuous movements and encouraging precise breathing, Pilates links the body and the mind. This assists with relaxation and an increased sense of body awareness. Pilates is all about identifying muscles that have become weak and neglected. In addition, improved posture and a greater sense of balance can help reduce the risk of falls. Ease of movement and a greater sense of self are all realistic expectations when practising Pilates.

Our Pilates instructor is Shirley Stephens. Following on from a lifetime commitment to healthy lifestyle choices, Shirley presents an holistic approach to teaching Pilates. With a background in ballet and various sporting activities, coupled with a thorough grounding in Pilates coursework and practice, Shirley truly believes Pilates can bring about positive postural changes.
