For Health Professionals

The centre’s program is based on a 30 minute, hydraulic resistance circuit format. The use of hydraulic resistance machines encourages a rapid increase in user confidence as opposed to free-weights and leads to exercise consistency. The machines deliver a smooth, fluid resistance to the user, reducing the jarring effect normally associated with traditional resistance machines.

As we do not incorporate individual free weights, pin-loading resistance equipment or stand-alone electronic cardio vascular equipment, it is not a requirement to prescribe personalized routines. However, the following procedures and protocol are implemented.

·          All new members are required to fill out a pre-exercise questionnaire and health check.

·          Members with medical concerns are recommended to seek a medical clearance prior to commencing.

·          We liaise with medical professionals in regards to individual members medical concerns/ injury rehabilitation to ensure any necessary adjustments and/or     exclusions are implemented. These include limiting range of movement and excluding specific equipment/movement as desired.

·          All new members are taken through their first, second and third workouts one-on-one with an instructor to observe the client on technique, understanding of format and any implementation of the above restrictions if necessary.

·          Recommendations are advised in regards to exercise frequency, duration and intensity.

·          The centre is fully supervised to provide constant support and exercise correction when required.

·          All members are prescribed general, and where necessary, specific stretches and core stability exercises.

·          Members have access to anthropometric testing (such as weight, body fat and girth) and specific-site flexibility testing. Blood pressure/heart rate testing is performed when monitoring is pertinent.

·          The routine is varied by adjusting the hydraulic resistance, tempo of movement and progression of equipment. All members are monitored throughout the sessions and are encouraged to work within their own levels.

·          Members with undiagnosed medical concerns are immediately referred to specific professionals such as a G.P. or Physiotherapist.

·          All our staff possess all necessary professional qualifications including current first aid and have at least ten years experience in the industry, including specializing in injury rehabilitation.

As you are no doubt aware, extensive research has highlighted the benefits of regular exercise and activity on a myriad of health issues. These issues are of increased pertinence to the ‘Baby-Boomer’ generation. We are excited about providing an environment to assist our members address these concerns.

Our vision is to build a symbiotic relationship with medical professionals in order to provide a ‘Health Plan’ for members, promoting education, continuity and consistency in relation to any medical, dietary or health related concerns.

With this in mind, please do not hesitate in contact us with any enquiry you may have. We would also encourage any professionals to view and experience our facility first hand. Active 50’s Fitness look forward to your response.
