The centre's philosophy is all about getting people active and assisting them to achieve the holistic benefits regular exercise can bring. Our focus is to improve physical and emotional health and wellbeing, increase quality of life, reduce the risks and effects of a myriad of health-related conditions and to promote an enjoyable and social environment to exercise in.

Here are some testimonials from our members.

" Active 50s Fitness saved my life - so to speak. After having worked nearly full time for many years and then to have it all suddenly stop due to breast cancer & chemo. I had my family and good friends, but I needed more so I signed up to Active 50s Fitness, I enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere, I work at my own pace, I have made new friends and my life is once again back on track. Thank you Active 50s Fitness. Pat, 72

" I have been a member of Active 50s Fitness for 2 years now. I was 74 when I joined and it was my first experience in exercising in a gym. However, I found that my fellow members were open and friendly and the staff most helpful and encouraging, so much so that I atttend 5 days a week, and enjoy every minute of it. I had rather serious cardiac symptoms when I began, this I am happy to say has improved dramatically and my cardiologist has strongly advised that I maintain my current level of exercise. Both Nadine and Stewart are experienced trainers who are always there to advise and help. The gym has a pleasant and friendly atmosphere that I look forward to every day." Mary, 76

" I joined Active 50s gym, because I wanted to get fit but not be in a gym full of posers. I find the environment is very friendly, and new comers are made to feel welcome, not only by the owners but also by the other members. It is a very social atmosphere, and since laughter is the best medicine, there is the opportunity for plenty of that too. It can be hard to remember that the primary reason for being there is exercise, but Stewart and Nadine are there to gently make sure you benefit from both exercise and social contact!! I would recommend Active 50s to anyone who like me just wants to get fit, and also to anyone who needs to exercise to help recover from, and maybe try and prevent illness. I am sure you will feel the benefit of being a member of Active 50s and maybe you could help Stewart with some tips on how to win Lotto for us all!" John, 59

" I had never really been sick in my life and at 57, I had recently retired and I was enjoying overseas travel... what a life! Without warning, while in America I suffered a massive heart attack. I retirned home very lucky to be alive. Both my cardiologist and my doctor said I had to exercise every day. I was referred to Active 50's Fitness and after an initial trial, I joined the next day. In twelve months since I've joined, I have slowly but steadily built up my attendance and effort. The staff at Active 50's are fully qualified to guide us through the necessary training programmes which are suited to all of us entering our senior years in a caring, supportive way. I find the program ideal for me, I feel so much better and fitter and I look forward to attending everyday because I know what the activity is doing for me. I meet so many others at the centre who, like myself, have suffered heart and other health conditions and I see how the regular attendance, the planned circuit format and working at our own pace is assisting all of us to carry on living the life we so rightfully deserve. It certainly is Fitness for Life. Damian, 68
